Company Bios Leslie Johnson Ms. Leslie Johnson is the President of SCEC, an Orange County-based air quality consulting and emissions source testing firm. Ms. Johnson's responsibilities include source emissions testing, marketing, proposal preparation, sampling methodology and equipment development, personnel hiring and training, technical report preparation and review, and sampling protocol preparation and review. Ms. Johnson also serves as project manager for large-scale source emissions testing and regulatory compliance projects. In Ms. Johnson's twenty-seven years of experience, she has managed numerous source emissions testing projects for regulatory compliance, air pollution control equipment demonstration, and operating permit performance purposes, including both criteria pollutants and hazardous air pollutants. Ms. Johnson holds a B.S. degree in Natural Resource Management--Environmental Sciences from California Polytechnic University of San Luis Obispo and a M.S. degree in Environmental Sciences from California State University Fullerton. Karl Lany Mr. Karl Lany is Vice President of SCEC. Mr. Lany provides regulatory guidance, compliance management and
permitting services to a variety of industries including manufacturing, power generation, wastewater treatment, potable water
distribution and animal rendering. His clients also include engine manufacturers, dealers and operators.
Mr. Lany holds B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering Technology, and Business Finance and a M.S. degree in Environmental Studies. Prior to joining SCEC, he managed special projects and traded in money markets for a commercial banking firm. He also served a s a staff specialist in the compliance division of South Coast AQMD, where he helped to develop trading and operating rules for the Regional Clean Air Incentives Market. Mr. Lany is a South Coast AQMD Certified Permitting Professional and serves on the Best Available Control Technology Scientific Review Committee. Michael Bell Michael Bell is Executive Vice President of SCEC. Mr. Bell has been in the environmental air quality field for over twenty (20) years. Mr. Bell’s technical expertise is in air emissions source testing and ambient monitoring. He provides testing staff supervision and senior project management to a variety of industries; including power generation, wastewater treatment, landfill gas systems, natural gas storage facilities, refineries, manufacturing, water distribution and animal rendering. Mr. Bell’s administrative responsibilities include source testing operations management, proposal preparation, quality assurance/quality control and corporation overview. Mr. Bell holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from UC Irvine. Prior to joining SCEC, he was a Senior Project Manager and Group Manager for two other air emissions testing organizations. John Furlong John Furlong is a Senior Project Manager at SCEC. Mr. Furlong has been in the envriomental consulting
industry for over sixteen (16) years. Mr. Furlong provides regulatory guidance, compliance management, permitting, air
dispersion modeling, and health risk assessment services to a variety of industries; including general manufacturing, power
generation, wastewater treatment, rendering businesses.
Mr. Furlong holds a B.A. degree in Political Science. Prior to joining SCEC, Mr. Furlong worked for several other air quality consulting firms, including Carnot Technical Services and Sierra Environmental Engineering. At these firms Mr. Furlong also worked in the air quality testing groups gaining 8 years of technical on-site testing experience. Mr. Furlong also worked as an Assistance Project Manager in the environmental impact study field at Endo Engineering. |
